Finding an apartment in Hamburg can be frustrating. Listings disappear within hours and viewings are like mass events. What we already touched on in our guide to apartment hunting is that contacting estate agents and property managers directly can be very helpful.
That's exactly why we've put together a list of over 300 property managers and estate agents from Hamburg whose portfolio includes rental apartments, and which you can accordingly use for your apartment search.
Why is direct contact worthwhile?
Many apartments are never even publicly advertised, but go under the table. Instead of reacting as soon as a new rental listing is published online, you act proactively by getting in touch directly. This way you can find out whether the respective estate agents and property managers have listings in their repertoire – before they appear on the usual platforms.
That means:
- Less competition: You're faster than other apartment hunters.
- Personal contact: A friendly phone call or a nice email can make the difference.
- More opportunities: There may be apartments that aren't advertised otherwise.
How to make best use of the list:
- Download: Download the Excel file (.xlsx) and open it with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Contact or call in a targeted way: Introduce yourself briefly, be friendly and ask about available or soon-to-be-available apartments.
- Stay on it: Get put on an internal waiting list if the property manager or estate agent keeps one.
Good to know: This list does not include housing cooperatives - you'll find a list of all 30 housing cooperatives operating in Hamburg here.
